Allegany​ ​County​ ​Outreach

Allegany County Outreach connects with the children and youth of Allegany County. They provide meaningful engagement opportunities​ ​and​ ​find​ ​ways​ ​to​ ​help​ youth ​have​ ​fun​ ​in​ ​the community.

Black​ ​Heritage​ ​Club

Black Heritage Club enriches​ ​the​ ​campus​ ​through​ ​providing​ ​events​ ​to​ ​celebrate​ ​the diversity of culture​ ​represented​ ​on​ ​campus. While it primarily serves black students on campus, it is open to anyone.

Campus​ ​Activities​ ​Board  

Campus Activites Board (CAB) organizes most of the large student events on our campus. Getting involved with CAB is a great way to see how Houghton operates behind the scenes and have a hand in creating the great events that happen on campus all year long.

Climbing​ Club

The Climbing Club ​manages​ ​the​ ​rock​ ​wall​ ​and​ ​tries ​to​ ​cultivate​ ​an​ ​atmosphere​ ​where​ ​friends​ ​can​ ​come​ ​to​ ​hang​ ​out and​ ​have​ ​fun—it's​ ​a​ ​great​ ​place​ ​to​ ​work​ ​out,​ ​solve​ ​problems,​ ​or​ ​just​ ​relax​ ​and​ ​jam​ ​to​ ​some​ ​good music.​ They ​also​ ​take ​trips​ ​to​ ​enjoy​ ​the​ ​great​ ​outdoors,​ ​and​ ​are​ ​always​ ​looking​ ​to​ ​grow.

College​ ​Republicans

The College Republicans ​seek​ ​to​ ​promote​ ​the​ ​philosophy of​ ​republican​ ​principles as well as ​intellectual​ ​diversity. They​ ​encourage​ ​students​ ​to​ ​challenge​ ​themselves ​and​ ​to​ ​have​ hard​ ​conversations.​ 

Drawing​ ​Board

The​ ​Drawing​ ​Board​ ​provide​s ​Houghton​ ​College​ ​students​ ​with​ ​a​ ​unique​ ​creative​ ​outlet​ ​allowing them​ ​to​ ​express​ ​themselves​ ​through​ ​the​ ​medium​ ​of​ ​a weekly comics​ publication.

Foam​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Liberal​ ​Arts​ ​Nerf​ ​Club​ ​(FILA)

Foam in the Liberal Arts is the​ ​official​ ​Nerf​ ​club​ ​at​ ​Houghton​ ​College.​ ​With​ ​over​ ​40​ ​nerf​ ​blasters,​ ​1000​ Nerf projectiles,​ ​and an​ ​entire​ ​academic​ ​building​ ​to​ ​play​ ​in,​ ​nobody​ ​is​ ​left​ ​disappointed.​ ​No blaster?​ ​No​ ​problem!​ They ​have​ ​many​ ​to​ ​spare!

Gadfly​ ​Society​ ​(Philosophy​ ​club)

The​ ​purpose​ ​of​ ​The​ ​Gadfly​ ​Society​ ​is​ ​to​ ​provide​ ​a​ ​forum​ ​for​ ​voluntary​ ​extracurricular​ ​endeavors​ ​of interest​ ​to​ ​philosophy​ ​majors,​ ​minors,​ ​and​ ​other​ ​philosophically-minded​ ​person,​ ​and​ ​to​ ​promote awareness​ ​of​ ​the​ ​relevance​ ​of​ ​philosophical​ ​perspectives​ ​to​ ​practical​ ​issues.

Global​ ​Christian​ ​Fellowship

Global​ ​Christian​ ​Fellowship​ ​reminds​ ​Houghton​ ​students​ ​to​ ​look​ ​not​ ​only​ ​to​ ​those​ ​directly around​ ​them,​ ​but​ ​globally​ ​as​ ​well.​ ​GCF​ ​coordinates​ ​weekly​ ​prayer​ ​topics​ ​that​ ​focus​ ​on​ ​one campus​ ​issue​ ​and​ ​one​ ​global​ ​issue​ ​and​ ​that​ ​are​ ​prayed​ ​for​ ​by​ ​the​ ​campus​ ​community​ ​daily.​ ​GCF also​ ​holds​ ​weekly​ ​meetings​ ​to​ ​promote​ ​global​ ​awareness​ ​and​ ​action,​ ​hosting​ ​missionaries​ ​as well​ ​as​ ​students​ ​who​ ​have​ ​a​ ​global​ ​outlook.

Gospel​ ​Choir

The​ ​purpose​ ​of​ ​the​ Gospel Choir ​is​ ​to​ ​express​ ​our​ ​Christian​ ​heritage​ ​through​ ​multi-cultural​ ​fellowship, celebrating​ ​the​ ​richness​ ​of​ ​African​ ​American​ ​culture​ ​through​ ​gospel​ ​music.​ ​Our​ ​purpose​ ​is​ ​not geared​ ​toward​ ​entertainment ​but​ toward​ ​exposing​ ​the​ ​student​ ​body,​ ​faculty,​ ​and​ ​staff​ ​to​ ​a​ ​type​ ​of worship​ ​and​ ​praise​ ​that​ ​is​ ​relevant​ ​to​ ​all​ ​cultures.

Health​ ​Professionals​ ​Club

Health Professionals Club is for students ​interested​ ​in​ ​pursuing​ ​a​ ​career​ ​in​ ​medicine​ ​or​ ​in​ ​the​ ​health​ ​industry. It helps to​ ​prepare members for a career in ​that​ ​field​.

Highlander​ ​Drumline

The​ ​Highlander​ ​Drumline​ ​provides​ ​entertainment​ ​at​ ​various​ ​events​ ​on​ ​campus,​ ​including​ ​athletic events,​ ​concerts,​ ​homecoming​ ​festivities,​ ​and​ ​much​ ​more.

Hispanic​ ​Heritage

The​ ​Hispanic​ ​Heritage​ ​Club​ ​seeks​ ​to​ ​honor​ ​the​ ​hispanic​ ​culture​ ​with​ ​primary​ ​attention​ ​given​ ​to​ ​persons​ ​of​ ​Hispanic​ ​background​ ​and​ ​with​ ​secondary​ ​attention​ ​given​ ​to​ ​persons interested​ ​in​ ​learning​ ​more​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Hispanic​ ​culture.​ ​Events​ ​are​ ​intended​ ​for​ ​those​ ​of​ ​Hispanic heritage​ ​to​ ​embrace​ ​their​ ​culture​ ​without​ ​feeling​ ​the​ ​pressure​ ​to​ ​perform​ ​and​ ​for​ ​those​ ​interested in​ ​Hispanic​ ​culture​ ​to​ ​immerse​ ​themselves​ ​in​ ​an​ ​authentic​ ​Hispanic​ ​context.​ ​Events​ ​include parties​ ​with​ ​Latino​ ​music​ ​and​ ​typical​ ​food​ ​from​ ​Latin​ ​America​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​visits​ ​to​ ​Hispanic churches.

Houghton​ ​Ballroom​ ​&​ ​Swing

The Ballroom and Swing Club offers Houghton​ ​students the opportunity to gather​ ​together​ ​to​ ​learn​ ​different​ ​styles​ of ​choreography​ ​and ​dance,​ appreciating​ ​the​ ​art​ ​of self-expression​ ​and​ ​movement. Going​ ​dancing​ ​with​ ​friends​ ​for​ ​a​ ​night​ ​has​ ​never​ ​been​ ​so​ ​convenient​ ​and​ ​fun!​

Houghton​ ​Martial​ ​Arts

The Houghton Martial Arts Club focuses on practicing​ ​Taekwondo​ ​and​ ​Muay​ ​Thai​ ​style​ ​kickboxing.​ ​All​ ​skill​ ​levels​ ​are​ ​welcome!​ ​Conditioning​ ​and​ ​stretching​ ​are​ ​a​ ​large​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​curriculum​ ​as​ ​well​ ​to​ ​keep​ ​us​ ​fit​ ​and​ ​to​ ​improve our​ ​techniques.​

Houghton​ ​Wildlife

Houghton​ ​Wildlife​ ​seeks​ ​to​ ​connect​ ​students​ ​and​ ​the​ ​broader​ ​Houghton​ ​community​ ​to​ ​its​ ​wild surroundings​ ​through​ ​hands-on​ ​education,​ ​outdoor​ ​recreational​ ​experiences​ ​and​ ​conversation with​ ​local​ ​wildlife​ ​experts​ ​and​ ​enthusiasts.​ ​The​ ​club​ ​also​ ​works​ ​to​ ​make​ ​on-campus​ ​resources and​ ​off-campus​ ​trips​ ​more​ ​accessible​ ​for​ ​students​ ​who​ ​are​ ​interested​ ​in​ ​studying​ ​and encountering​ ​wildlife.

International​ ​Student​ ​Association

The International Student Association​ ​serves​ ​to​ ​connect​ ​students​ ​from​ ​all​ ​over​ ​the​ ​world. It works to build meaningful relationships and community between students from all of the different cultures represented at Houghton.

Journeys​ ​End​ ​Tutoring​ ​(JET)

Journey's​ ​End​ ​Tutoring​ ​works​ ​in​ ​conjunction​ ​with​ ​Journey's​ ​End​ ​Refugee​ ​Services​ ​and​ ​seeks​ ​to build​ ​relationships​ ​through​ ​teaching​ ​English.​ ​Houghton​ ​Students​ ​travel​ ​to​ ​Buffalo​ ​in​ ​groups​ ​with other​ ​Houghton​ ​Students​ ​several​ ​Saturdays​ ​each​ ​semester​ ​to​ ​work​ ​with​ ​refugee​ ​families​ ​in​ ​their homes.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​a​ ​great​ ​club​ ​to​ ​join​ ​if​ ​you​ ​are​ ​interested​ ​in​ ​teaching,​ ​culture,​ ​or​ ​service.


The Lanthorn is a publication that provides a platform for sharing​ ​the​ ​creative​ ​voices​ ​of​ ​students​ ​in​ ​the​ ​form​ ​of​ ​poetry,​ ​fiction,​ ​and​ ​art​ ​work.

Lending​ ​Paws​ ​Campaign

The​ ​Lending​ ​Paws​ ​Campaign​ ​is​ ​a​ ​gathering​ ​a​ ​students​ ​dedicated​ ​to​ ​serving​ ​companion​ ​animals. Members​ ​band​ ​together​ ​and​ ​travel​ ​to​ ​local​ ​animal​ ​shelters​ ​Saturday​ ​mornings​ ​in​ ​order​ ​to​ ​lend their​ ​assistance.​ ​There,​ ​they​ ​will​ ​do​ ​everything​ ​from​ ​walking​ ​dogs,​ ​doing​ ​laundry,​ ​cleaning kennels,​ ​socializing​ ​with​ ​cats,​ ​and​ ​more.​ ​The​ ​members​ ​of​ ​this​ ​club​ ​value​ ​service,​ ​animal​ ​welfare, and​ ​the​ ​shear​ ​delight​ ​of​ ​our​ ​furry​ ​friends.


Lifeway ​meets​ ​every​ ​Tuesday​ ​night​ ​to​ ​lead​ ​a​ ​youth​ ​group​ ​in​ ​Belfast,​ ​NY​.

Minorities in Agriculture, National Resources and Related Sciences

Minorities in Agriculture, National Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) promotes​ ​initiatives​ ​which​ ​foster​ ​inclusion​ ​and​ ​advancement​ ​of​ ​members​ ​of​ ​ethnic/cultural groups​ ​that​ ​are​ ​underrepresented​ ​in​ ​agricultural​ ​and​ ​natural​ ​resource​ ​sciences.​ ​The​ ​group​ ​also provides​ ​career​ ​and​ ​professional​ ​development​ ​in​ ​these​ ​fields.

Mercy​ ​Seat

Mercy​ ​Seat​ ​is​ ​a​ ​student-led​ ​worship​ ​group​ ​that​ ​holds​ ​praise​ ​and​ ​worship​ ​services​ ​every​ ​week night​ ​of​ ​the​ ​school​ ​year.​ ​Mercy​ ​Seat​ ​provides​ ​a​ ​worshipful,​ ​reverent​ ​atmosphere​ ​for​ ​students through​ ​prayer​ ​and​ ​worship.

Paddle​ ​Sports

Paddle​ ​Sports​ ​is​ ​a​ ​club​ ​that​ ​enjoys​ ​the​ ​outdoors,​ ​and​ ​specializes​ ​in​ ​teaching​ ​students​ ​how​ ​to Kayak,​ ​Canoe,​ ​and​ ​Sail.​ They ​have​ ​a​ ​Christ-centered​ ​leadership​ ​that​ ​promotes​ ​togetherness​ ​and growth​ ​through​ ​mostly​ ​kayaking,​ ​and​ ​generally​ ​being​ ​in​ ​the​ ​water.

Paintball​ ​Club

The​ ​paintball​ ​club​ ​is​ ​a​ ​club​ ​that​ ​is​ ​meant​ ​to​ ​help​ ​people​ ​get​ ​off​ ​campus​ ​for​ ​a​ ​little​ ​bit​ ​and​ ​meet new​ ​peers.​ ​The​ ​excitement​ ​that​ ​comes​ ​from​ ​the​ ​adrenaline​ ​of​ ​paintball​ ​can​ ​bring​ ​all​ ​kinds​ ​of people​ ​together.

Psychology​ ​Club

Psychology​ ​club​ ​seeks​ ​to​ ​provide​ ​a​ ​space​ ​for​ ​students​ ​interested​ ​in​ ​psychology,​ ​provide​ ​learning experiences​ ​and​ ​service​ ​opportunities,​ ​and​ ​to​ ​encourage​ ​students​ ​to​ ​view​ ​psychology​ ​with​ ​a Christian​ ​perspective.

Salvation​ ​Army​ ​Student​ ​Fellowship

The​ ​Salvation Army Student Fellowship (SASF)​ connects with ​the​ ​Salvation​ ​Army​ ​in​ ​Wellsville​ in ​planning​ ​out​ ​major​ ​events,​ ​going​ ​to​ ​weekly services,​ and ​helping​ ​out​ ​with​ ​Tuesday​ ​and​ ​Wednesday​ ​children's​ ​ministries. They also go​ ​on​ ​a​ ​Missions Trip​ ​during​ ​February​ ​Break.

Society​ ​For​ ​Human​ ​Resources

​The Society​ ​of​ ​Human​ ​Resources​ ​Management (SHRM) club operates as ​student​ ​chapter​ ​of​ ​the​ ​professional​ organization.​ ​It​ ​is focused​ on ​HR​ ​professionals​, but ​is​ open to ​anyone interested​ ​in​ ​business.

Sigma​ ​Zeta

Sigma​ ​Zeta​ ​(ΣΖ)​ ​is​ ​a​ ​national​ ​honor​ ​society​ ​founded​ ​in​ ​1925​ ​to​ ​recognize​ ​undergraduate excellence​ ​in​ ​the​ ​natural​ ​sciences,​ ​computer​ ​science,​ ​and​ ​mathematics.​ ​The​ ​society's​ ​purpose​ ​is to​ ​encourage​ ​and​ ​foster​ ​the​ ​attainment​ ​of​ ​knowledge​ ​in​ ​the​ ​natural​ ​and​ ​computer​ ​sciences​ ​and mathematics.

Ski​ ​Club

Ski ​Club​ is ​for​ anyone​ ​who​ ​enjoys​ ​snow​ ​sports. It provides opportunities​ ​to​ ​fellowship​ ​and​ ​hit​ ​the​ ​slopes.

Spanish​ ​Club

Spanish Club ​aims​ ​to​ ​help​ ​students​ ​interested​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Spanish​ ​language​ ​and​ ​the​ ​Hispanic​ ​culture​ ​to understand​ ​it​ ​in​ ​ways​ ​that​ ​are​ ​palatable​ ​and​ ​understandable.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​accomplished​ ​through​ ​fun and​ ​inclusive​ ​activities​ ​and​ ​events​ ​that​ ​allow​ ​interactions​ ​to​ ​happen.

Student​ ​Government​ ​Association

SGA​ ​is​ ​a​ ​group​ ​of​ ​student​ ​leaders​ ​separated​ ​into​ ​separate​ ​cabinets​ ​including​ ​the​ ​executive cabinet​ ​which​ ​works​ ​as​ ​a​ ​liaison​ ​between​ ​administration​ ​and​ ​the​ ​student​ ​body​ ​and​ ​glass​ ​cabinets which​ ​work​ ​to​ ​lead​ ​their​ ​class​ ​and​ ​also​ ​be​ ​a​ ​liaison.

The​ ​Houghton​ ​Star

The Houghton Star is a student​ ​lead​ organization ​that​ ​produces​ ​weekly​ ​issues​ ​of our student newspaper. Our mission is to​ ​preserve​ ​and promote​ the ​values​ ​of​ ​dialogue,​ ​transparency,​ ​and​ ​integrity​ ​through​ ​reporting and to​ ​serve​ ​as​ ​a​ ​medium for​ ​student​ ​expression​ ​and​ ​publishing​ ​campus​ ​and​ ​local​ ​news.

The​ ​Radiance​ ​Club

We​ ​are​ ​a​ ​"fandom"​ ​club​ ​dedicated​ ​to​ discussing ​TV ​shows,​ ​books,​ ​games,​ ​or​ ​movie​s.​ ​Trips​ ​to​ ​Conventions​ ​and​ ​to​ ​theaters​ ​in Buffalo​ ​are​ ​only​ ​a​ ​couple​ ​of​ ​the​ ​great​ ​things​ ​you​ ​can​ ​expect​ ​from​ ​us!

The​ ​Songwriters​ ​and​ ​Studio​ ​Musicians​ ​Society

The​ ​Songwriters​ ​and​ ​Studio​ ​Musicians​ ​Society​ ​​connects songwriters​ ​and​ ​musicians​ ​from​ ​across​ ​campus,​ ​for​ ​the​ ​purpose​ ​of​ ​writing,​ ​recording​ ​and performing​ ​original​ ​music.​ They ​host​ ​weekly​ ​songwriting​ ​circles​ ​and​ ​have​ ​access​ ​to​ a recording​ ​studio​.​ ​Students​ ​have​ ​the​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​perform​ ​their​ ​original​ ​songs​ ​in​ ​Chapel, for​ ​Coffee​ ​House​ ​events,​ ​and​ ​through​ ​other​ ​platforms.​ They​ ​give​ ​students​ ​a​ ​voice​ ​to express​ ​their​ ​thoughts​ ​and​ ​feelings,​ ​especially​ ​on​ ​difficult​ ​issues,​ ​through​ ​music.​ ​Membership​ ​in this​ ​club​ ​requires​ ​a​ ​brief​ ​audition.

Yearbook​ ​(Boulder)

The Yearbook Club leads​ ​publication​ ​of​ ​The​ ​Boulder. They​ ​desire​ ​to​ ​be​ ​efficient,​ ​make​ ​an​ ​even better​ ​yearbook,​ ​and​ ​include​ ​everything​ ​possible.
